Mengo comes second in National Human Rights Quiz. The quiz was organised by the UN - Human Rights Office and HURINET - U, and took place on Thursday at Ndere Center, Ntinda. Mengo was represented by students from the UN Club, and produced the best Girl in the Quiz. The school was awarded a silver medal on Saturday 10th December at Hotel Africana

Another thing that surprised me was how hardworking they are. Apart from spending 10 hours in school, they also use much of their spare time studying and very little of their day is set apart for rest. I’ll use a Ugandan friend of mine as an example. After school it takes him two hours to get home. When he gets home he studies until 10 PM, when he goes to bed. At 2 AM in the morning he wakes up again to study, before he again has to travel 2 hours to school. Form a Norwegians point of view, this is unbelievable. I highly doubt that ANY Norwegian would even consider this lifestyle. I am impressed that they are able to cope with the huge amount of work that’s required of them. Even though they know that if they finish university there is still a great chance that they will not get the job they want, or something related to their education, they still work day and night to achieve in school.
Uganda may not be as economically rich as Norway. They do not grow up knowing that the government has got their back all the way up to the end of upper secondary, like we do. But they have values. Honestly I think that Uganda is far wealthier when it comes to human values like friendship, social interaction, nature, and psychological stamina.
