An ICT-project seen by the South-exchange teacher

Kalema Ayub, exchange teacher in Rjukan, Norway presenting the Telemark IPad-project in the Mengo Fb-side: iPADs for all Teachers!
Imagine a school where every student gets a laptop on joining, there is internet access in all over campus, every class has an LCD Projector, where every teacher has a laptop, every office has a desktop computer, with computer labs enough enough to handle the largest with a 1:1 student/Desktop Computer ratio.
Now, imagine that school taking it further; giving every teacher an iPAD! Sounds like fiction? May be. But that’s what Rjukan Upper Secondary School just did. Today in Stromstad, Sweden ((http://www.stromstadspa.se/) all teachers of Rjukan VGS were given brand new iPADs and taken through the technical operation. In the coming weeks, pedagogical experts will take them through modules on how to maximally use the iPADs for instructional purposes.
As part of the plan to stay ahead of the competition, new students joining the school will also be provided with iPADs, the way we give a copy of the rules and regulations to new students.
What impact this program will have on the school and student achievement will be the focus of attention in the coming years.
Mr. Kalema will follow the project during his stay in Rjukan
Comments from Allan Barigye, (exchange student 2010): Wow, wow, wow, this is such a great step of modernization in Norwegian-Sweden education system. Happy for you Rjukan VGS staff and students.

Happy International Women’s Day

Former Fk-er Henry Kabiri from Katwe greatings to the International Women’s Day: It is frustrating to be a women activist in a society where it is Manly to exploit women. Worst of it, is when the victims themselves see no problem in this customized injustice.
Elite working women continue keeping girls of school going age in their houses as maids (slaves),parents demand huge prices for their daughters as bride wealth; 65% of domestic violence cases in Uganda are related to this. Early and forced marriages among young girls, is aggravated by greedy wealth seeking fathers.
An empowered Woman is a strong foundation for a country’s socio-economic take off.
I will not give up the fight for the women’s cause for liberty and justice. Happy International Women’s Day.
